Subject: Best New Wave dance song. Fast/Slow

Written By: Mattman on 03/23/05 at 7:04 pm

Hello people. I'm Putting a 2 CDs together for a friend of mine with New Wave dance songs. I was wondering what people think were the best songs, both "fast" and slow.

I have some ideas.....

Slow

Don't Forget To Dance - The  Kinks
True - Spandau Ballet
Save A Prayer - Duran Duran
Moments In Love - Art Of Noise
Somebody - Depeche Mode

Fast

Go! - Tones On Tail
Move Out - Yaz
Town Called Malice - The Jam
Just Can't Get Enough - Depeche Mode
Goodbye, Goodbye - Oingo Boingo

Any other ideas?

Moments of Love is new wave? I always thought it was Jazz since many Jazz stations play it. I like it anyway. Also, Genius of Love by the Tom Tom Club!!!

Didn't anyone ever go to wild state of the art (early 80s) dances?  I went to a club in Seattle where they had strung 19 inch TVs from the ceiling and were showing MTV videos.  It was called a Videotech - goofiest thing, half the tvs were on the blink!  Went to another dance and remember Should I stay or should I go was playing and when it got to the chorus part, everyone started going crazy on the dance floor - seemed like such a fast song back then ;D  Remember that new wave dance we all did, just jumping up and down like aerobics?

Remember it? I have to watch that I don't do it now! We were all like a bunch of mexican jumping Q-tips. I saw some pretty nasty injuries due to flailing arms.

Put either of these Peter Schilling songs on the CD:

1. The Different Story ;D
2. Major Tom (Coming Home) ;D
