Thats scary, where I live, I see quite a few mullets lurking around, I actually had a poofy, medium lenght mullet in the 80's and also had a mini mullet with the side burns in 2002.

It's Robert Gordon, he used to be in the New York Dolls before he went punkabilly in the late 70s.  Elvis' old group were his back-ups and Link Wray was his guitarist, gordon had a beautiful baritone voice. Anyway, his hairstyle was called a fresh fish special.

Dave, you see that girl in your pic to the left..well my hair was identical to it in the 80's..very Dynasty/Dallas.

I got it cut last week and it's now like Doras off Follyfoot..a kinda short crop effort!!

Funny you should say that, because Andrew G, voted last year's Bachelor Of The Year in Australia, made the grade WITH a mullet:
http://au.i1.yimg.com/australianidol.aunz.yimg.com/2004/photos/host_andrewg.jpg
In the 80s, in Australia at least, everyone's favourite mullet belonged to Brian Mannix of the Uncanny X-Men:

Unfortunately, I don't have a recent pic to show you, but I did get to see the man himself twice in the past year and he's STILL got the mullet! :D

Now forgive me, but I always thought that a girl with a mullet was a particularly tragic look.

Some mullets aren't bad, to me personally. I've heard the mullet is considered the worst haircut ever. I disagree. I think the afro is the worst haircut ever. But afros are considered hip in some circles for some reason. Also the worst type of mullet, is the one that looks like an afro with long hair, if you know the type.

I'm sorry if anybody takes this as a racial slurr, (but don't worry because I am also white), but I think the mullet is the most ugliest, stupidest, white-trash haircut.  Only those weirdo retards who live in trailers wear them, and that's how it should stay.

I mourn the day that they come back.

Really. Was it a girl or a boy?? LOL. I had long hair back in the day (being an '80s rocker) but my boys didn't have long hair when they were little. OK, I'll admit that my oldest son had a mullet at 2 (1992) but it didn't look anything like that. Just a little longer in the back than front. No hairspray though!!!

And, just IMO, mullets looked even worse on women than on men!!

Mullets are popping up everywhere in Sydney -not just on the AFL footy field, or on the vacant looking dude you see, eating lunch at KFC, with his bewildered-looking wife and grubby kid. Even some reasonably trendy people I know are cultivating mullets. I'm afraid my hairdresser may have been right, mullets really are back!!! :o

Even though some of the fashions from the 80's are back, I think the mullet should never have returned. It should be locked in the 80's and forgotten about.

If you walk into a bar where everybody else has a mullet and you don't, trust me they make you feel real uncomfortable.

What's even worse than the mullet is the "skullet."

Which for those of you who might not know, is when guys go bald on top but let their fringes keep growing long.

Some examples:

http://www.thecaptainsmemos.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/db_todd_and_the_skullet71.jpg

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Uvi4DD43wWQ/SxQuXEuelDI/AAAAAAAADdM/JEb9IQjBcts/s320/skullet.jpg

http://www.woosk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/skullet.jpg

I used to work with a guy who had a skullet, he was a total prick and always tried to mess with me.

I'd just call him "Bozo" and he'd get really pissed off.  :D

WTF, I'm plucking grays out of my eye brows now!

The mullet is only liked or disliked now, because it was given a name by the Beastie Boys and Hockey Fans. If it never really had a name, I believe people wouldn't even care that much about it. What get's me, is guys now looking at other guy's hair and making comments about it...what's up with that? Women to women I can understand, but guys? The guys I know, could care less what they wear, let alone make a comment about fashion. Has most guys now gone feminine?

The word is "metrosexual"!
;D

The thing is, mullets were associated with macho bullsh*t in the '80s.  We didn't have a name for it yet.  Some called it a long-short.  Anyway,  they were big with hockey players and, I think, NASCAR drivers.  Don Johnson for sure.

Rat tails were also popular in the '80s.
8-P

Feminine?  It depends on the guy and the mullet, I suppose.
