These are the top-selling singles, 1980 thru '89. My picks are "Every Breath You Take" and "That's What Friends Are For". 8)

Of those listed, I chose Call Me and Bette Davis Eyes. These are not my all time favorites, though.

Um...wasn't 'Look Away' from 1988...?
Every Breath You Take outsold Thriller?? :o
As a single, yes...but if you're talking 'Thriller' the album...
From this stack, 'Every Breath You Take' then 'Bette Davis Eyes'...

Wow, that's surprising still! I don't remember Every Breath You Take being THAT popular. But then again, since so many people bought the Thriller album, they probably didn't need a single too...

I can't remember what I voted, but imo 80s pop generally sucks (I mean the baby baby type only)

Those singles were not the 80's best selling singles but Billboard 's top singles in terms of chart performances (weeks on Top 40, Top 10,...).
For instance, the biggest selling single of the 80's is USA for Africa We Are The World at 7.5 million copies sold in the US alone. However, chartwise, the biggest hit of 85 was Careless Whisper.
Another example, 1983's biggest seller was Billie Jean but The Police hit outperformed it on the charts.

Although I like most of those songs, I wouldn't have ranked them as my favorites. I generally prefer other songs the listed artists did. That being said though, I'll go with "Every Breath You Take", since that IS one of my favorite Police songs.

I choose FAITH. George Miichael was in peak condition during Faith-album.
