I'd say The Breakfast Club. Most of the action takes place in the one room (library) so the set would be fairly straight forward and there are many speeches that could lend themselves to song Can anyone think of any other 80s movies which could be made into stage musicals?

Dirty Dancing would be another good one, or The Big Chill. :)

Dirty Dancing's been done! In fact, it is currently touring Australia. It stars an actress out of Neighbours.
