I was suprised to see how many bands actually coverd this original Soft Cell song, my question.. I thought the Cure also did a cover, is this true? if yes, in what year?

Actually, Soft Cell covered this song too. The original is an obscure R&B song from the sixties.
I'm not sure of the Cure cover, though.

The Cure did indeed cover it.
Your right it's been coverd numerous times.
Marilyn Manson, The Clash, The Cure, Billy Idol (I think) and several others.
It's actually one of those songs that i wouldn't say is a favourite, but always enjoy when i hear it.
It was origionally recorded by Gloria Jones who as Tanya said was an R&B Singer.

Really couldn't tell you Philip.
Could well have been, would have been around the right time.

ROFL...I actually think of the Coneheads when I hear this song...they used it a bit in the Conehead's movie. In the movie, Connie Conehead and some of her friends are singing to it in the backseat of Baldar Conehead's car. Later, while fighting some evil Coneheaded monster on the Conehead home planet, Baldar sings it out loud. Kind of interesting to hear someone sing it with that robotic conehead nasal voice.

Yup, and the mother of his only child - a son!

Ramones?
Funny you should mention them. I couldn't sleep last night so around 2am I watched some TV and caught a documentary (I guess that's what it was) about them on public television. It was about how they got started, their early years, going to London, etc. Very interesting. A lot of inside information.
I never heard that "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker" song before. Sounds pretty good.
Anyway, about "Tainted Love", here's your chance to be one of the few people on this planet to hear the original by Gloria Jones (from 1964?)...
