Subject: The Bangles Songs

My choice: "Following", with  "Hazy Shade Of Winter" a close 2nd.

My choice was "In Your Room" with "If She Knew What She Wants" close 2nd.  Songs like "Egyptian" and "Manic" were overplayed.

Eternal Flame, followed by In Your Room, If She Knew What She Wants, and Going Down to Liverpool

I picked "Manic Monday" -- not only is it catchy pop, but the lyrics are so true - "Just another manic Monday, wish it was Sunday, that's my fun day." Doesn't anyone who goes to work or school think that? LOL.

I think this is another case, for me, of a band's big hit not being their best. "Egyptian" is cool, but doesn't hold a candle in comparison, imho. ;)

'Manic Monday' - I normally avoid Prince songs like the plague, but this is the only exception...fantastic performance...

Followed by (literally) 'If She Knew What She Wants'

Usually I like orginal songs better than remakes but in this case I have to say that I really like the remake of Hazy Shade of Winter (but I still like Simon & Garfunkel's version, too) . That is followed by Manic Monday (which was written by Prince btw under the psuodonom of Christopher.)

Hazy Shade of Winter is a really cool song.  (Loved the video) Anyone remember a song by them called "Crash and Burn"?

My friend Pat went and saw the Bangles when they toured with George Michae in 1988l. She didn't know their music. However even weeks later, she remembered the song "crash and burn" saying it was fantastic and how she couldn't get it out of her head after hearing it just that once.

Anyways, out of all those 80s singles they had, I'd have to definitely pick "If she knew what she wants". There's just something so beautiful and enchanting about that song.

I chose "Eternal Flame" as it's just too good to not pick as their best song. My other faves are:

Walk Like An Egyptian
Hazy Shade of Winter
If She Knew What She Wants
Manic Monday

(I agree with CatwomanofV about Simon And Garfunkal's "Hazy... " still being good)

Let's face it, there's no way any Bangles song could hold a candle to Simon & Garfunkel but they cover of "Hazy Shade of Winter" good enought to rival the original!
