'High On Emotion' and 'Don't Pay The Ferryman'...

(No prizes for guessing which one I'll never pick...!!)

I have never really been a fan of Chris de Burgh.

I choose other: for A Spaceman Came Travelling

I choose 'A Spaceman Came Travelling' too - it's so full of lovely atmosphere,

saw Chris in concert years ago, my first concert actually but  I can't bear his stuff these days.

How many times did he sing Lady In Red that night?

Lady In Red was sooo popular! Amazing how overplaying can totally kill a good song!

High On Emotion followed by Don't Pay The Ferryman and Lady In Red

Well, yeah "Lady in Red" still IS overplayed to death, and sometimes I'm not in the mood for it, but in general it's a pretty song, imo. I'm one of those guys that actually likes soft ballads. ;D

But I heard "Don't Pay the Ferryman" on a K-tel compilation I got used a couple years ago, and I was in for a real surprise - this is a TOTALLY different side of him. Very upbeat and new wave-ish, it has a true guitar rock edge (maybe like a mix of heavy Toto with Loverboy).

So, that's my choice. :)

Does he have another hit besides "Lady in Red" on radio airplay?

:)

Yeah, it was one called "Hot Tracks" and it's also got the Police, Def Leppard and other circa 1983/4 songs.

I only learned what a K-tel comp was a few years ago, but I've been collecting 80's songs like that my whole life pretty much - just too bad those tapes are 20 years old now! ;)

^ Of course not - I've always liked retro things (no wonder the BTTF's are my favorite movies!)

But, I mean, in 2005 stuff like that has 20 years of "use" on them now - too bad I can't take the DeLorean back and buy a bunch of it "new" from the 80's. :)

EDIT - I wonder if a kid being born around now will say that in 2025 about an X-Box. :D

I chose Lady in Red because it is such a pretty song and also I danced with the guy who is now my boyfriend to that song at one of our school dances.  ;D  ;)

High on Emotion is one of my all-time faves from the 80's.
