Subject: Need help identifying this mystery 80s song...

Hello,
There is one song from the 80s that I've heard on the radio for years,  but, I for the life of me cannot make out the title of the song and I have no earthly idea who the band is. It was apparantly a hit, because I have heard it many, many times before, and I know VH-1 plays it alot in their 80s flashback programs.
 Anyways, it has a very 'arena rock' sound to it, and the few lyrics I could make out were : 'You know your voice is a love song' and the main chorus sounds like 'It'ssssss the ooooooonnnneeee friennnnnndddd' and it sounds like there is a xylophone in the chorus. The lyrics are VERY hard to decipher, but it's such a cool sounding song! If anyone could help me out I would GREATLY appreciate it!
