With me, it is the team of Rick Moranis & Dave Thomas.

The largest advantage of SCTV over SNL was the constant cast of reoccuring skits.  And the best of all of them was "Great White North".

I think when I get home tonight, I am gonna grab some Elsinore Beer, some doughnuts, and watch Strange Brew.  8)

Dave Thomas, the Great White North skits, the movie Strange Brew and how he used to say Wendy's hamburger founder Dave Thomas stole his name  :D

Even though I've rarely seen SCTV itself, since I've been watching alot of 80's movies since the early 90's, I like alot of them.

However, John Candy is easily my favorite - I made it a point to watch all his movies back then. This was easy to do since his characters often had alot of similarities, and he pretty much only did comedies. The guy was just easy to like and to laugh with IMO. This made it all the more sad when he died for me. :(

One of his movies (a comedy called Armed and Dangerous) had Eugene Levy in it, so that's how I came to know him. I was SHOCKED when American Pie came out in 1999 to see how hugely he had aged since the 80's.

^ He played the dorky dad in that btw. ;D

John Candy also did splash with Eugene Levy.  To me, Eugene still looks the same as he did in Splash.

I believe Johh and Eugene were both in "Armed and Dangerous". One of the very funny Canadian movies made with some of the SCTV cast. John was great.

Joe Flaherty.  I loved him as Floyd Robertson (aka Count Floyd)

If only the real Lloyd Robertson (Canadian CTV News Anchor) could turn into a vampire, I might be inclined to watch the CTV News more often  ;D

Forgot to add in my original post, but - I gotta give a thumbs up to Joe Flaherty as well.

He usually plays more minor roles in comedies as opposed to anything huge. But I gotta say, he was the Western Union Man in BTTF 2 - the one who gives Marty Doc's letter in 1955 just after he gets zapped back to the Old West (to Marty's perspective, and that of the audience's, the timeline changes around him instantly). :)

P.S. I liked his laugh in that too ("looks like I lost. Ah ha, ha ha ha"). ;D

I picked Candy, but I would say Flatterly, Levy, Moranis and Thomas were my favorite.

Count Floyd, Egor, anything Candy did, and the Mackenzie Brothers were my favs.

...classic.
