Pee-Wee Herman had a hit in 1987 called "Surfin Bird". It appears on the soundtrack to the film "Back to the Beach"

How about Alexei Sayle? He had a minor chart appearance here in Canada with "Didn't You Kill My Brother", but I guess he was more famous for "Ullo John, Got a New Motor" in the UK

Here's another one. Actress Holly Robinson (who starred on 21 Jump Street at the time) sang the theme song to the show. It was released as a single, but to my knowledge it did not become a mainstream hit. Shame too. It was quite catchy :)
