The Atari 2600 was the only one I had, so that's my obvious choice. A co-worker has one and let me borrowed it back in 1998. It sure brought back a lot of memories, especially when my brother came over and played it with me. :)

Other. I own two Atari arcade machines (Battlezone and Tempest), and have always preferred coinops over consoles.

I also have a couple of 1970s Atari machines, Tank and Breakout :)

Never owned an Atari, but a friend of mine had the 2600.  That joystick was murder on your hands!  Wouldn't be a bit surprised if scientists found out someday that that joystick was the root cause for all carpal tunnel syndrome cases  ::)

Although I have experienced both Atari 2600's and the 7800, my personal favorite was the old 2600.

How many people realized that Sega Master System comtrollers worked in the Atari 2600? The 2600 controls also work in the Sega, but they're 1 button short.

U can use both Sega Master System and Sega Genesis joysticks on the Atari, but it generally isn't a good idea as some of the games made for the Atari required a stick, such as Activision Decathlon, which required you to shake the joystick back and forth to make the athletes run  :)

I'm with the others on the 2600 model, I guess 'coz it's the one I remember best.

I only ever had the 2600, so my vote is for that!

I had the newer Atari 2600 and my brother had the first 2600.  Regardless, it's still Atari 2600.

I still have my original Atari 7800 that I got for Christmas in the 80s (when they'd just come out) and it still works perfectly.  At the time, I only had like 8 or so games.  I now have over 150 games 8)

Atari 2600.  I still have our 6-switch faux woodgrain console originally purchased in 1980 and about a dozen or so games, but the TV/Game switch box has a wire that needs to be soldered.  I have the Stella emulator on my home computer and can play virtually any game that was available for the 2600.

The 5200 had better graphics but the controllers sucked.  I never played on the 7800; in the late 80's I purchased a NES.

I went with the 2600. I had the 2600, 5200 and 7800 but the first was the best because it was new technology.
Once they started upgrading your expectations upgraded too.

Ahhh, Tempest was a truly awesome game. Consider yourself envied.

OT, I went with the 2600. Its the only Atari I ever owned.

Tempest was fun in the arcade, but on the home system it must have sucked royally...

I never had an Atari but went to a friend's house to get my fix.  Scored a 5200 for Christmas but it took a dump the first day... :\'(
