Dear friends,

I am glad to ask you to visit the new web page dedicated to *rare* item of "instrumental rock-group" ZODIAC (Latvia/U.S.S.R) - "Disco Alliance/Music in the Universe" (1980/1982/95) 2-on-1 CD album.

In its early times in late 70s ZODIAC was a kind of garage band formed in Riga by Janis Lusens with his co-eds from the Jazeps Vitols Latvian State Conservatory. The air, or maybe even the spirit of these times, intoxicated by new electronic vibes of JEAN-MICHELLE JARRE and French SPACE; lately even new term was invented - "space rock", these synthesized sounds seemed something extra terrestrial. Listening of 7 instrumentals from the first album of ZODIAC - "Disco Alliance" (1980) it is understandable quite clearly how deep they were poisoned: "...incessant rhythmic pulsation, captivating tone-colours and sound effects of electronic instruments, the unpretentious and plain melodic patterns create uncommon but contemporary feeling, the effect being sometimes cosmically unreal and transient ("Mirage", "Zodiac"), sometimes even grotesque and full of vim ("Rock On The Ice", "Polo")" - according to A. Ermanbriks, then editor of Latvian TV.

The second album "Music in the Universe", which is also a part of these 2-on-1 CD, originally was released in 1982 by slightly different line-up of ZODIAC and included slightly different music. And now you can check it. Just click on:
