Subject: weird soap promotion in the 80s

Written By: shoneycu on 11/05/05 at 9:12 pm

Maybe I am going crazy, or in my head I'm combining two different memories.  I remember a strange soap promotion in the 80s (I can't remember which brand) in which the soap company included in the packaging a fake "gemstone" of some sort....if you got the "diamond" or the "emerald" (I think) you were entitled to trade it in for a genuine diamond or emerald.  Does anyone else out there remember this?  Did I dream it?

Not a clue, I thought you meant like Soap Operas!  I don't remember any thing like that, but of course, it doesn't mean that there wasn't.

What kinds of soaps were there:

like dish washing soap??  hand soap??

About the only soap commercials that I remember are Zest, Irish Spring, and Palmolive.
