You live in Canada? Right?

Out of what you listed only these look (sound) familiar

1981 Castles in the Air - Don McLean (US #36)
1983 Politics of Dancing - Re-Flex (US #24)
1983 Shiny Shiny - Haysi Fantayzee (US #74)
1984 The Kid's American - Matthew Wilder (US #33)
1986 Is This Love - Survivor (US #9)
1986 Captain of Her Heart - Double (US #16)

And I would say only two of them are worth hearing ... okay, maybe three.

I'll see if I can come up with some obscure/rare+good songs from the '80s.
:)

That's a song everyone knows.  I was going for the obscure hits that you don't hear too often these days :)

I'd also toss in General Public's "Tenderness" as one people should know pretty well. It's on both the Weird Science and Clueless soundtracks, and it seems like I here it more on retro stations than either "Hot You're Cool" or "I'll Take You There." "Forever Young" is also pretty well known, though most people I've talked to are more acquainted with the original rather than the extended version (I prefer the extended).

Some of these I instantly recognise as they got high in the uk chart, Captain of her heart by double for instance, was number 1 over here, Funky Town by by aussie group Pseudo Echo was a remake of the old lipps inc hit from 1980.

My favourite minor hit of the 80s has to be Berlin's 'The Metro'. I absolutely love that song!
