Subject: The best christmas song in the 80's

Written By: migi on 12/13/05 at 2:29 am

Ok, it's that time of the year again.  :D
My choice is obviously Band Aid following close to Wham's classic. It's kind of weird that those two such a wonderful songs came out the same year and I think they both were at the top of the charts around the world. Well...I was 8 years back then but I can still remember how good they sounded and still sound.

I voted for "Do They Know It's Xmas" -the original and most definitely still the best.
Another great X-Mas song from the 80s is "Thank God It's Xmas" by Queen.

Anyway, my choice...'Fairytale Of New York' - a sheer bit of poetry!
...and the only Christmas Pop Song to contain a swear word, I believe.

Heh! You're almost certainly right...

Never even caused problems with the BBC, that one...

;D You guys have obviously not heard the X-mas offerings of one  Kevin Bloody Wilson, an Australian comedian, who a Catholic bishop tried to stop from performing in the UK. One of his most popular songs is "Hey Santa Clause, You C***!" If you love the Aussie sense of humour and don't mind the odd swear word or 50, then you have gotta love Kev!

Happy Christmas you arse!  :D

The Pogues gets my vote, followed by Wham!  Some honorable mentions go to:

Thanks For Christmas - The Three Wisemen (XTC)
One Christmas Catalogue - Captain Sensible
