Subject: Political songs of the 80's.

Written By: Marty McFly on 01/04/06 at 10:00 am

Another cool list I thought we could all add our thoughts (or more songs) to. Off the top of my head, these are some 80's hit songs that at least in some way, were about politics or social concern.

Lives in the Balance - Jackson Browne
We Are the World - USA for Africa (more "charitable" than political, but same basic theme)
Land of Confusion - Genesis
Born in the USA - Bruce Springsteen
Money's Too Tight to Mention - Simply Red
Right Now - Van Halen (1991, but more of an "80s" song)
End of the Innocence - Don Henley
Walking on a Thin Line - Huey Lewis
Spirits in the Material World - Police
Small Town - John Mellencamp

Sting: Russians

The music is actually the "Romance" movement from the "Lt. Kiji Suite" by Prokofiev, that's why it's better than any other Sting song!

The "Construction Time Again" album was Depeche Mode's eco-political moment, and still one of their best albums.
