Subject: Are Art of Noise Trip Hop?

Written By: Donnie Darko on 01/23/06 at 3:46 am

I really think that "Close to the Edit" may be a very early example of Trip Hop/hip hop instrumentals.  The way they use the Yes snare is very hip hop esque, and also the whole "Hey!" thing in the song.

AON seem like an inspiration for Moby, DJ Shadow, Portishead, and the like.

I was a HUGE AON fan, I loved 'Close to the edit' of their first album, 'Beatbox' was good too. Pretty clever group!
