Subject: Best Alison Moyet song

My favourite is "Is This Love".  Her whole 1987 album "Raindancing" is just wonderful and IMO her best work :)

It's a tie for me, between "Love Resurrection" and "Invisible", but ultimately, I voted for "Invisible", which is such an awesome song and Alf's powerful vocals always amazed me!!! :)

I personally can't stand Alison's voice I have to pick "Love Resurrection" due to the fact that Kim Boyce ( a Christian artist) had the song on her debut album. Kim's version was GREAT!!  ;)

I quite liked "Whispering Your Name" when it was out. Can't remember how it goes anymore.

And for anyone wondering who Alison was...

Yaz (aka Yazoo), "State Farm", "Situation", "Don't Go", "The only way is up", et cetera.

That's who.

"The only way is up"

That was by Yazz and the Plastic Population, which was no relation to Moyet ;D

I've only heard her early songs, which I love: Love Resurrection, All Cried Out, Invisible and Weak In the Presence Of Beauty.

Guilty as charged!

For the record: Yazz (two "Z"s), had nothing to do with Yaz (one "Z").  Yaz (one "Z", in the States) was also known as Yazoo (Ya-one-z-oo, in the UK), and that's the Yaz that featured Alison's vocals.  Correct?

BTW, I believe you -- I just want to confirm it.  The voices are similar enough that Yazz (two-Zs as in Yasmin Evans) could have passed for Yaz (one Z as in Alison :).  I just had it wrong for a lot longer than I care to admit.

(Your reward, as it may be, would be to grab a copy of "Phoenix Nights" rendition of "The Only Way Up Is Yazz", available as "Phoenix Nights vs. Yazz" on

http://www.djkit.co.uk/acatalog/issues.html

Mastermix 198, or on Mastermix Mashed Up CD 5.

If you liked the Yazz (two  Zs, having nothing to do with Moyet) track, and you enjoyed the "remix/sampling culture" of the 80s (wherein you could sample darn near anything into any good dancey track and get a laugh), you'll love the remix.
