Does anyone remember a British singing group in the the '80s called the Mini-Pops? They were kids (I think) and I'm sure they sang in normal voices but the record producers speeded it up so they kind of sounded like the Chipmunks a little bit. They were quite popular for a while. There biggest hits were Stupid Cupid, Video Killed the Radio Star and a slew of others. ??? :)

I had a Mini Pops album as a kid in the very early 80's, but it's been so long ago, I don't remember much about it
