I've been playing a fair bit of GTA: Vice City, so the songs I've been hearing/digging lately come from there. If I had to list the top three I'd say...

"Obsession" by Animotion
"Love My Way" by Psychedelic Furs
"Working for the Weekend" by Loverboy

W.Y.H.I.W.Y.G - Front 242 (1987)
Get Out Of London - Intaferon (1982)
Sensoria - Cabaret Voltaire (1984)

Three tracks, three genres, whatever I'm in the mood for.

"She's a Beauty" - The Tubes

A great track.  8)

I think I have said this countless times before . . .

'Stand' - REM
'Never' - Heart
'Cryin'' - Vixen
'Don't you just know it' - Amazulu

However, for some odd reason, I have gone on a country and western drive as of late.

Right now, there are 5 main '80s groups I am digging, man:

1. The Tubes- While "She's A Beauty" is by far their most known song, I can also personally recommend the following- "Talk To Ya Later", "Sushi Girl" (which was featured on SCTV's skit 'Fishin' Musician'), "Mr. Hate", "TV Is King", and the ever-outrageous tribute pieces to bad B-movies: "Attack Of the 50' Woman", and "Wild Women Of Wongo".

2. Adam & The Ants- Their best bits, in my opinion, are the following: "Goody Two-Shoes", "Strip", "Puss 'n Boots", "Prince Charming", the energetic "Beat My Guest", and the ever-present "Ant Music".

3. April Wine- While I have only 1 LP from this magnificent band, it was the biggest seller to date- "Nature Of the Beast". Best songs include the classic rock ballad "Just Between You & Me", the gritty "Big City Girls", the somewhat prophetic song "Sign Of the Gypsy Queen"- which effectively foreshadowed Hurricane Katrina; and the hard-hitting, beat-pounding "Tellin' Me Lies".

4. Ozzy Osbourne- I know, I know- he's a cop-out choice. I believe he did some serious s**t, from back in the day. In fact, there are 3 songs of his, that I plan to remake: the political-yet-fits-my-life "You're No Different", the fan appreciation song "Gets Me Through", and the ever-mysterious, nefariously appealing "No More Tears".

5. The Alan Parsons Project- It seems that very few people have heard the polished music of this most accomplished band. Some of their classic best include "Eye In the Sky", the prolific "Old & Wise", and the philosophical-yet-psychologial "Psychobabble". Alan Parsons is actually releasing a new album, and I am anxious to see it. 8)

At the moment I'm listening to these songs a lot:

- Alphavillie - Big in Japan
- Joe Jackson - Different For Girls
- Susanna Hoffs - We Close Our EYes (Oingo Boingo cover so technically an 80s song)
- Smiths - Bigmouth Strokes Again
- Killing Joke - Eighties
- Any Trouble - Trouble With Love
- Debbie Gibson - Electric Youth (Totally not my thing but I used it it in a documentary I made about child stars and ever since then I keep having the urge to listen to it!!!)

"Dinning Your Scene" by the Blow Monkeys has held up surprisingly well.  And to the above poster: "Electric Youth" is better than we remember too.
