Subject: How do you "transport" yourself back to the '80s?

What do you do to remind yourself of the '80s? I blast my music really loud in the car!  8)

Remembering, photos, music, movies & other pop culture...

But what works best, for me, is to get together with old friends, throw something appropriate on the CD changer, crush a few beers, talk about all the crazy sh** we used to do and have a good laugh.  That doesn't happen much at all, but it's a kick...

  Can't believe I'm almost 40...

Watch John Hughes movies, listen to 80s artists, wear my hair in a side ponytail and talk like a valley girl.    :)

"Well I can keep the beat, but I can't breakdance.
It's hard to look cool in crazy pants,
But I wear 'em anyway, even when they look whack,
It's my personal way to bring the '80s back!"
- Sum 41, Rock: It's What We're All About, 2002

OK, seriously.  No crazy pants.

For me, all it takes is one turn of the ignition key, and one road trip mixtape (yes, on cassette, because I'm too lazy to retrofit an MP3 player into this beast and I'm so crazy that I want it to look the way it did when it rolled off the assembly line!) and it's the 80s all over again.

Same methods I use, except I'm 30 this year.

The heck you talkin' about? I still live in the '80s!

But, for those of you who do not:

Try listening to old comedy tapes & CDs. I recommend Rodney Dangerfield's "No Respect", Robin Williams's "Throbbing Python Of Love", and Judy Tenuta's "Worship Me, Pigs!"

Try to locate old reruns of your favorite shows- unfortunately, I can't find reruns of "Max Headroom".

Break out the tapedeck, or even the record player, and listen to the classics: Gabriel, Clapton, Collins, Fleetwood Mac, Info. Society, Flock Of Seagulls, Numan, Dolby, Jett, Benatar....the list goes on.

I was watching "URGH!- A Music War", and I almost felt like I was at every concert on that film.
(There were about 36 or 37 bands playing, you know!)

More ideas to come!!!

I heard that leggings are coming back in style.  That could transport you back to the 80s.  But...would anyone dare to wear them again?

It's tempting to buy them, although it only makes me feel like I'm living in the past.. they would be really cute underneath a pair of tight jean shorts, though!  :)
