One to One was a Canadian pop music duo in the 80's

-- BIOGRAPHY --

They evolved out of an Ottawa Valley cover band called Mainstream, who in the late 70s and early 80s, toured the local circuit.  In 1983, core members Louise Reny (vocalist) and Leslie Howe (guitarist) struck out as a duo, and after recording a few demos, they signed a 2 album deal with Bonaire Records and flew to West Germany to record.

Their debut album "Forward Your Emotions", filled with catchy dance songs, was released in 1985, and took the Canadian charts by storm, sending the singles "There Was A Time" and "Angel in My Pocket" into the Canadian Top 30.  In America, the album did not become a success, despite a minor chart entry with "Angel in My Pocket"

A follow-up album titled "1-2-1" appeared in 1988.  This time around with a more guitar based pop sound, they once again had another hit on their hands, sending the singles "Hold Me Now" and "Do You Believe" into the Canadian Top 40

With their 2 album deal finished, and the demise of Bonaire Records, a third album would not appear until 1992.  "Imagine It" was an adult contemporary based album that gave the band their biggest ever hit with "Peace of Mind (Love Goes On)", which also became their second and final entry into the Billboard Hot 100. Two more singles "Memory Lane" and "Friends" also reached the Canadian Top 40.

Following this success, Howe and Reny decided to pursue a different musical direction, and joined with three other musicians in the alternative rock band Sal's Birdland, which later morphed into the grunge rock band Artificial Joy Club.  They had a popular Cross-Canada hit in 1997 called "Sick and Beautiful" before calling it quits in 1999

Here's two of their hits that many Canadians would recognize

I didnt know this band until I came across "There Was A Time" in a Penguin Quiz.  ;)

They had alot of hits in Canada.  I like the singer's voice and dig the guitar.

I have the 12" single for "Angel In My Pocket".  I got it a few years back for $1.  Good tune. :)

That video above for Hold Me Now .. I would rank Louise Reny among my celebrity crushes of the 80s for sure!

I just found an old cassette copy of Forward Your Emotions in a thrift store, so I thought I would re-populate this thread.  I really miss this group.  Here's two more of their hits
