My all-time fave Charity Song was "Cantare Cantaras" 1985 to help Latin America. I didn't understand a word of it but it was my favourite song for many years and still is. I recently bought the video on dvd from Ebay.

... Julio Iglesias, Menudo, Irene Cara, Placido Domingo, Vikki Carr, Albert Hammond, Jose Feliciano, Miami Sound Machine, Ricardo "Fantasy Island" Montalban, Cheech Martin, Apollonia (the girl from Purple Rain) and many more.

How about "Your Only Human (Second Wind), by Billy Joel.

He wrote and performed the sog for a teen suicide prevention program, and donated all of the proceeds.  In fact, during the recording he made a mistake (which he covers by repeating a line, then chuckles).  His wife Christy Brinkley thought he should leave it in, since the song is about "being human".  So it was left in, and the song was a huge hit.
