Subject: Did you have an egg baby in school??

Written By: ADH13 on 07/02/06 at 12:02 am

I just brought up the classic "egg babies" to Doms (Meat) and he has never had the pleasure!!

Apparently they don't do that anymore??

Just wondering how many of you guys did, and if you remember anything about your egg babies.

I remember I used yarn for hair and kept my egg baby in a little basket with a little doll blanket.  I don't remember what I named her though.

Yes. I did. I had a little boy and I named him.

Guess what?

My son's name is the same as the egg :D

How cute!!  I don't know what your son's name is but I think it's cute that you named your son after him!! (or had that name in your head for that long)

I remember some people in my class made little outfits, hats, etc for their egg babies... I wasn't that elaborate though.  Just a blanket for mine...

Oh gawd, my high school sweetheart and I (we had family living class together) were the parents of an egg...

I really can't remember much about it...I think it may be in college, now...sorry about that one...

We still do that at my school...I'm a year older than Doms. I'll be doing it my senior year (I just became a junior) for family life. For extra credit, you can have a super-realistic baby doll that pees.

Oh I had one.  I named it Eggbert, but other than that, I don't remember much about it.  My school years now are all pretty much a blur  :\'(

Hahah, yeah they dyed them pink or blue, depending on the gender. His name is Chris. I loved the name Christopher since my fascination with Winnie the Pooh as a baby. I loved the name Christopher Robin. However, I changed the middle name, lol.

Nope.

I can't imagine what class that would be needed for.

Yes..I totally did.  It was fun poking holes in the egg and blowing out the insides...and then decorating the egg with fake hair and drawing a face on it. I kept mine in a shoebox and put a pillow in the box to keep it safe. By the end of the week...most of the "babies" were long gone!  :-\\

Probably high school "Family Living" or "Family Skills" classes, or whatever it's called in different schools...the same class where you're taught to balance a checkbook and maintain budget...

If one can make it through, oh I don't remember, a week or two, without cracking baby Eggbert's skull one was supposed to be ready for parenthood, or some such...

I think keeping a house plant alive for a year would be a better test...

I remember hearing about them, but I was too young to ever utilize them.  ;D

I remember some of the girls at my High School taking a Home Ec class project which involved constantly carrying around a bag of flour rather than an egg; I guess for a more approximate weight comparison with a newborn baby.  I think it was actually more geared toward teaching them the realities of teen pregnancy.

I never took a class like that.  I went to an all-girls private school; the days of teaching them Home Ec. and that stuff there are long gone.

We do it in senior health class. You also have to write erotic fantasies in that class that don't involve sex.

I had to take health class my sophomore year, but we didn't carry any crap around like it was a baby.

And wtf kind of class has you write soft-core pornography?

I totally had one of those.  I didn't make it an outfit, but it did have a nice basket with pink gingham lining.

"For example, North Carolina Sen. Jesse Helms'
campaign against government funding of erotic art inspired the
"Jesse Helms Erotic Lterature Contest." The object was to
produce erotica that might please the Republican senator -- keep
it reasonably clean, mention fidelity or the church."

- Houston Chronicle, writing about this "Internet" thing, written in 1990.

http://www.subgenius.com/subg-digest/v0/0342.html

(PRABOB!)

To put the JHELC in perspective -- in 1990, universities were the the only places that could afford machines big/fast enough (equivalent to early 100MHz Pentium I class machines, with 250 megabyte hard drives) to host world-wide message transfer systems.  If you wanted to send email to someone, you didn't do it on your own computer.  You used your computer to talk to a "real" computer capable of sending email.  Over this thing called the "Internet".  And since the real computers were funded by universities, and since universities were funded by the government, the predictable happened:  politicians and university bureaucrats grandstanded about how horrible it was.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
