Subject: Name of a song, pleeeesseeee!!

Hello All,
I am looking for the name and group of a song that I do not have a lot of info on. I goes a bit like----
if you were a "something" you would be a "something"
ex. if you were a book, I would read you cover to cover...
there are several lines in the song like that, and I do know it is done by a white group with a reggae sort of beat to it.
I have been searching the lyrics boards to no avail. Simply Red as the group comes to mind but that has not panned out either...
can anyone help?

That sounds like "The Way You Do the Things You Do" by UB40
From their 1989 album "Labour of Love II", it reached #6 on Billboard in 1990

Some added information for you ... It was a cover song. "The Way You Do the Things You Do" was originally a hit for the Temptations in 1964 :)
