Although I'm a huge Eagles fan, I don't really like much of their solo work.

I voted for Don Henley, he has a few songs that I like.  New York Minute is my favorite.

Glenn Frey's solo stuff probably rocked a little harder, but Henley was more '80s arena rock-esque.

I like both, but I narrowly picked Henley. "Boys of Summer" is a classic.

I much preferred Don Henley over Glenn Frey, even when they were both in the Eagles.

Definitely Don Henley. So many of his songs are wonderful classics, such as the unforgettable "End of the Innocence" and "Heart of the Matter". I never particularly cared for any of Glenn Frey's solo material...

True, Don Henley solo songs are great and really classics. I love them.  HOWEVER...he is a cranky guy. I saw him yell at an orchestra. Now, I understsand when you're a pro you have to get things done. But as far as Ive read and seen on video, Glen is an all around nice guy SO I"m sacrificing art for kindness and going with Glenn.

I've sorta noticed that too. He has some bitterness in his songs too (i.e. political commentary, even if he has a point in what he's saying. Yeah, Glenn Frey seems more like a laid back, cool guy.

I love Glenn Frey the best.  "I've Got Mine" and "Part of You, Part of Me" were at one time two of my favourite songs.  I still love them, and when I researched the charts, I was very shocked at the poor US chart appearances :(

^Yeah, "I've Got Mine" only reached #90 (I didn't know that 'till I read this thread). I remember it playing on VH1 alot at the time and it was always one of my favorites by him - just a little mellower.

In the words (well, lyrics) of Mojo Nixon:

Don Henley
must die
don't let him get back together
with Glenn Frey

:D

in the words of Joe Walsh singing "Life's Been Good" live:

"They write me letters....tell me Glenn's great."

rise, supporters of The Lone Arranger!

I saw both Glenn Frey and Don Henley (with the rest of the Eagles) on tour in 2005. I have always enjoyed Don Henley's stuff, but it gets way too much airplay for my liking. I like Glenn Frey's stuff maybe a slight bit more, as I really like "The One You Love" and his other hits. Strange thing is, all the rest of the Eagles played their solo stuff in concert the night I saw them except Glenn. I was hoping to hear just one of his, but they never played any of his stuff. And, I agree with Karen. Glenn seems much more approachable. He was having a blast on the stage, practically dancing by himself (next to Joe Walsh, who's kinda wacky, anyway).

My vote went to Henley, but I'll have to agree that my vote goes to Glenn Frey on "Congeniality"

I just found "Garden of Allah" by Don Henley in the Canadian charts.  Don't know how I missed that one first time around.

I am still shocked that Glenn Frey had no US Top 40s in the 90s.  I always thought "I've Got Mine" was big on Billboard

Henley got my vote. The strength of "The Heart of the Matter" alone would be enough for me to go that way.
