Amazon Women on the Moon (1987)
I watched it again this morning since I'd last seen it in that same year. Quite amusing and often stupid silly (not unlike myself)
Starring "A Whole Lot Of People". :D ;D ;D
I have a copy of that. Haven't watched it in a while.

A movie I forgot about (and never saw on the other post, I am sorry if I repeat) Clash of the Titans - 1981
I probably watched this movie more than I ever watched Raiders of the Lost Ark (even though I probably enjoyed Raiders more) but my big brothers would watch this movie every time it was on (and for a while it seemed like every weekend, it would be playing on some sort of channel). I just can not believe how cheesey the special effects looked in this movie (and then there was Raiders, where the special effects looked so much better). At times you can see the strings as Bubo flies around. I guess they are remaking this one, we shall see.....
Oh an how about The Hitcher (1986) with C. Thomas Howell - this movie gave me and my friend the creeps for weeks after we went and saw it at the movie theater one weekend. Chomping down on a bloody finger, instead of a french fry - eeeewwwwwwww 8-P

The Pirate Movie was based on Gilbert & Sullivan's The Pirates of Panzance. I recommend the one with Rex Smith & Linda Ronstat. It is SOOOOO much better than the Pirate Movie.

Disagree. No way you're ever gonna get Gilbert and Sullivan to rake through the muck to sneak a line like this into a PG-rated movie.
"If you're treadin' water and romance is on the slide, don'tcha know you have to swallow something more than water? It's your pride."
- Kristy McNichol, in a song called Pumpin' and Blowin', from The Pirate Movie.
Just damn. The movie was rated PG! You can hide it behind all the cartoon animated fish that you want, but it doesn't change the fact that there were parents in that theater!

We're watching "Mac and Me" right now. Not as successful as "E.T." (which is why it's pretty much forgotten), but to me, a MILLION times better.
Another one is "The Flight of Dragons" (1982). It isn't out on DVD (which pisses me off), but I have Google link bookmarked that shows the whole film.

Tootsie (1982) I actually watched the movie "Tootsie" last night. Seriously. It wasn't bad. I only fast-forwarded through a few parts. There are many stars (or ex-stars) in the movie: Dustin Hoffman Bill Murray Jessica Lange Terri Garr Geena Davis (in her underwear) Dabney Coleman Sidney Pollack Charles Durning
Is that Rosanna Arquette as the "receptionist" at the Hoffman's audition for the Soap Opera?
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlXE1Yq0AnQ
Liquid Sky (1983) Probably the weirdest movie I have ever seen other than "Soilent Green" from the 70s.
First the music is extremely weird and disturbing. The film is even weirder. They dont make "futuristic" movies like this any more.

i think NotC wasn't out on DVD for a long time, for some reason. yeah, it's a B-grade classic, i have a copy i taped off cable many moons ago.
did anyone ever see a movie called "One Dark Night", i think from 1983? meg tilly spends the night in a mausoleum as a sorority haze, unaware that a cultist with supernatural powers, and hilarity ensues.
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51GMT13A51L._SL500_AA240_.jpg
it's sorta cornball but i've always liked it. didn't come out on dvd for forever and then about a year ago they released a 2-dvd collector's edition. ;D most inexplicable collector's edition since "devil dog: the hound of hell."

it's funny in the movie when Tony comes home from business trip and the phone is ringing off the hook for his daughter and the doorbell is ringing with boys wanting to see her.
it was hard for me when boys started calling and I try to be nice and not over protective. I betcha that dvd can be found for under ten bucks easy.

Here's a forgotten movie of the 80's: "Union City" (1980). The film takes place in the 1950's. It's about the search for a milk thief in a New Jersey apartment building that leads to murder. It stars Debbie (Blondie) Harry and Everett McGill plus a quick cameo by Pat Benatar. Good film. Unfortunately little known.

In the last year I have acquired both Flight Of The Navigator and Labyrinth on DVD, both totally worth it. Plus I still have Short Circuit and Summer School taped off cable from at least 10 years ago. I still dig out my old copy of Roxanne now & then as well. Does anyone but me remember Russkies or The Last Starfighter? I still laugh at & love all of these.

The Nightmare On Elm Street series is all 80's for the most part. The original will never be forgotten but some of the sequels were very well done and never got too much credit. Precisely the 3rd and the 4th one.
My favorite was always the 4th one.

are you kidding... the second one sucked to high heaven.... the only good thing about it was the fact that all the extras at the party at the end of the movie were high and it was funny to watch trying to 'react' to Freddy.
The only memorable thing about 3 was the girl into TV Set! ;D
I really liked New Nightmare...what was that? 6? That was pretty good and very surreal!

I agree with you on the 2nd one, I didn't really like it. But the ones I pointed out were 3 and 4. :)
New nightmare is the 7th one. Which came out in 1994. And yeah, it was a cool movie.

Bad Boys was one of Sean Penns best performances, but his best will always be as Jeff Spicolli
has Nighthawks been mentioned? Rutger Hauer as the terrorist Wolfgar. He's so good at playing the villain.

Rutger Hauer ALWAYS seemed to play the villain. Blade Runner, The Hitcher.
Ok, he wasn't the villain in Ladyhawke.

I can think of a few films that have been forgotten but one is causing me a major headache cos i can remember it but can't think of the title.
The Zone Troopers (green aliens from another world end up in world war 2 if i remember correctly)
The beast within (sort of like a cheap horror flick)
The Changeling (George C. Scott been a while since i last saw it)
Superstition/The witch (low budget horror film) original title was superstition
The film i have trouble with is sort of like robo-cop in a way but this is a scientist who is caught in the middle of an explosion his eyes are saved by protective goggles and is later transformed into a cyborg later in the film an assassin and her friends are sent to kill the cyborg the assassin uses a large like hatpin to kill their victims.
any ideas to the title would be gladly received.
not sure if this was early 80's no idea but Ron Howard played in it Grand Theft Auto obviously about stolen cars.
Jungle Burger ( low budget take on Tarzan but a cartoon adult themed)
Mac and Me i think about 1985 (family from outer space their son is missing they search for him he is discovered by a young boy in a wheelchair great kids film)
The Wraith (Charlie Sheen) about a person who is murdered then returns later as a mysterious person who drives a Porsche turbo interceptor
Repo Man (Emilio Estevez) he is a repo man sent to collect a car which has radioactive waste in the boot of the car
The Bronx Warriors 1 + 2 (sort of like the warriors but set in the Bronx area can't remember if it was from the 80's)
Zombie Lake (about a lake in France or Germany where former German soldiers were dumped in a lake and if people swim in the lake the dead come back to life and pay the local town a visit) not sure if from the 70's or 80's
Strykker (sort of post Apocalypse nuclear future about one guy who takes on gang my memory is sketchy on this only saw the film once)
Invasion of the blood farmers (low budget horror film about visitors from another planet harvesting blood)
Silent Rage (Chuck Norris) think he plays a cop who shoots a serial killer and the serial killer gets injected with a special chemical which enables the serial killer to die and come back to life again)
Enemy Mine (Dennis Quaid & Louis Gossett Jr) two sworn enemies are stranded on an alien world where they have to become friends to survive
Wanted: Dead or Alive (Rutger Hauer) Plays as a bounty hunter sent after a terrorist (played by Art Malik) good film
Shocker (Wes Craven film about a child killer i think called Pinky ?) he is sent to the electric chair and is somehow takes over tv's or something like that
Deadly Friend about a boy genius who builds an a.i type robot which gets destroyed his friend Sam is pronounced as brain dead and he uses the robot's chip to bring her back to life
I think that will do for now

good call on remembering these 2. The Wraith is a bit weird, but i still watch it whenever it shows, and Repo Man is ok too. I pretty much like most films these brothers have made

I am glad someone else remembers this classic. All this guy did was try to go home after meeting that Arquette girl and so many bizarre things happened to him. And this movie basically happens within a 24 hour period. Hilarious!

With the exception of being hunted by a lynch mob, I've lived that movie in installments! I also love Howard Shore's incidental music, which sets such a great atmosphere for the movie. Scorsese was going through hell trying to get "The Last Temptation of Christ" made when he got the "After Hours" screenplay. Maybe that's why he's so effective with the persecution of Paul!

I was realising today there are so many movies nowadays that are forgotten in the mainstream media because they've fallen out of favor being played on network television. Most '80s movies that use to play on TBS and TNT are long gone. Now we get a lot of movies that are more recent.
Now that the '80s are nearing the 30th year mark (in 2010) it's starting to become more apparent of what quality films were then and what they are not now. Yes, there was the junk out there, but even that stuff had some original qaulities that kept it somewhat entertaining.
I will always be a sucker for classic films, and now that the '80s are entering into classic era mode, here is a list of some lost movies from the '80s that you hardly see on TV anymore.
1. The Boy Who Could Fly
2. Troop Beverly Hills
3. Big Business
4. Ghost Dad
5. The Great Muppet Caper
6. Prancer
7. One Magic Christmas
8. The Witches (1990 - but very close to '80s)
9. Harry and the Hendersons
10. Cannonball Run
11. The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking
12. The Last Unicorn
13. The Chipmunk Adventure
14. The Secret of Nimh
15. The Wizard
16. Little Monsters
17. Ernest Saves Christmas
18. Batteries Not Included
19. The Care Bears Movies
... if there are more you can think of, please chime in and ad to the list and ad to the memories :0)

here's a hot one. i picked this up on a 4-movie DVD pack not long ago for about 10 bucks. "don't bury me... i'm not dead!" was a minor catchphrase in 1988.

^ I remember that movie.
Here's a long forgotten one from 1989. It's called 'Collision Course' and stars Jay Leno and Pat Morita as a couple of cops solving the case of a stolen engine

I really liked that flick, Max. Here's another comedy with Michael.

I saw that on HBO once, thought it was pretty funny. Of course, Jay was already filling in for Carson 3 nights a week, so it was kinda doubtful he would be going on to a big movie career. Pat Morita, on the other hand, had just lost Ohara on ABC and The Karate Kid Part III wasn't nearly as good as the first two. All of which made fan-draw nearly impossible the film. There was one scene in the trailer where they don't show Pat's funny reply to Jay's line...
Jay: Just my luck, I get the one guy from Japan who doesn't know Karate!
Pat: Not true, my brother no know Karate either!
A lot of the anti-Japanese sentiment that stayed so prevalent into the 90's was lampooned in this pic, so maybe the critics took it out of context as well. But I always found it funny when Pat looked at the racist cop in interrogation and said,
"READ my RIPS. Detective first class, Tokyo Police."
Your Pal,
Doc

If you are a Canadian, you had to see that. It's part of our "Pledge of Allegiance" ;)
