Subject: help finding a song!!!

Written By: mike on 07/24/07 at 2:09 pm

ok so i was at Toys R Us, looking for a Quija board, and i heard this song, with an 80's beat to it, put my guess it was in the 90's cause i cant find it.

the lyrics from what i can make of the chorus  was "dont stop... were gonna make it"

im sure about the "make it" but it can also be "break it" or "take it"  and it was just so hard to hear... i got the melody in my head but no words, i know at the end of the song they keep repeating the chorus over and over which is that ""dont stop... were gonna make it" part

can anyone help?! :-\\

A Tribe Called Quest F/ Faith Evans - Stressed Out

Intro/Chorus: Faith Evans

I really know how it feels to be, stressed out, stressed out
When youre face to face with your adversity
I really know how it feels to be, stressed out, stressed out
Were gonna make this thing work out eventually

Verse One: Consequence, Q-Tip

Yo I aint one to complain but theres things in the game
(Whats your name?) Consequence, Im tight, burnt like flames
(And whys that?) American dreams, they got this ghetto kid in a fiend

Dont stress that cause its not in your bloodstream
Your whole being, comes from greatness, dyou remember
Shatan got you caught in the storms of December
And brothers on the block packin nines like September
Crazy situations keeps pockets on slender

Yo I be on the avenue where they be actin brand new
Im splurgin on these Reebok joints for shorty boo

All of a sudden, I saw these two kids frontin
Talkin out they joints but they wasnt sayin nuttin
My hand was on my toolie they was actin unruly
(Say word) Yo word up, yo I was tight caught up
But I swallowed my pride and let that nonsense ride
Because Im positive it seems that negative dies

Yo we was at the dice game makin these cats look silly
Flamin, steady runnin off at the Willie

I had my cash mixed, my rent due, with my play-dough
I gotta see some loot so all my girls I blow
Shook them sheeshs in my palm let em hit the flo
Kept my eyeballs scopin for them pigs po-po
I got to go on the ave see my parole by fo
But I gotta steady freak these boys like JoJo

And I was doin it, til I met Ike, Spike, and Mike
One roll, they had my pockets thirstier than Sprite

Yo I know the feelin, when you feelin like a villain
You be havin good thoughts but the evils be revealin
and the stresses of life can take you off the right path (no doubt)
Jealousy and envy tends to infiltrate your staff
We gotta hold it down so we can move on past
all adversities, so we can get through fast, like that

Chorus

Verse Two: Consequence

You got the N.W.O. (low cash flow)
Your babys on the way (and you dont know who)
And crosstown niggaz tryin to (bust at you)
Aiyyo they got me stressed out (and you dont know what to do)
So frame this Kodak black, and vision to my contact
with a poultry scrap, workers get pistol smacked
The switch hittin Queens, niggaz liquid sword spittin
with raw poppy, and now your first love is krill
Your vision of the mil got crept like Hey Lover
Tried to rise to the top, you just couldnt recover
And all I want is my laceration of the pie
to get this whip cream before the water runs dry
Niggaz flashdancin yo I dont know why
Youre sick of snitchin, she got you cruisin to the pokey
like Smokey, the stress be tryin to squeeze out a homey
While I be tryin to get star status like Shinobi
So we can build a dynasty, just like the Tobys
And all I want, is the world to know my steez
These money hungry niggaz is seven thirty
And got me stressed out like these frog MCs

Chorus

Outro: Faith Evans

Dont worry we gon make it (gonna make it)
Dont worry we gon make it (oh yeah)
Dont worry we gon make it (gonna make it)
We gon make it (gotta make it)
Dont worry we gon make it (gotta make it)
Were gonna make it (we gotta make it)
Dont worry we gon make it (we gonna make it)

Dont worry we gon make it (ohhhhhhh)
Dont worry we gon make it (gonna make it)
Dont worry we gon make it (ohhhhhhh)

Sounds like "Makin' It", by David Naughton, which would actually qualify it as 1970s.

Or could it be:

Quiet Riot - We're Not Gonna Take It

Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore

We've got the right to choose it
There ain't no way we'll lost it
This is our life, this is our song

We'll fight the powers that be just
Don't pick our destiny 'cause
You don't know us, you don't belong

Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore

Oh you're so condescending
Your gall is neverending
We don't want nothin', not a thing from you

Your life is trite and jaded
Boring and confiscated
If that's your best, your best won't do

Oh Oh

We're right (yeah)
We're free (yeah)
We'll fight (yeah)
You'll see (yeah)

Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore

Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore

No way

Oh Oh

We're right (yeah)
We're free (yeah)
We'll fight (yeah)
You'll see (yeah)

Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore

Oh we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh we're not gonna take it anymore

Just you try and make us
We're not gonna take it
Come on!

No, we ain't gonna take it
You're all worthless and weak
We're not gonna take it anymore

Now drop and give me twenty
We're not gonna take it
Oh crinch pin

No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh you and your uniform
We're not gonna take it anymore

Perhaps you have the words wrong.  Can it be "Dont stop...........thinking about tomorrow."  This is "Dont Stop" by Fleetwood Mac.  A great song from the late 70's but could pass for 80's.  It is on the Rumours album which is arguably one of the best albums of all time.

Mike .. I'd like to help you ... but think you haven't provided quite enough info here. Suspect you've misheard too many of the words ...

but anyhow ...

At one stage, I was gonna suggest 'Don't give up' by Peter Gabriel, featuring Kate Bush ... 'cause she sings 'I know we can make it' as one lyric response to the song.

Did this song seem like such  a male / female duet? Predominantly one male or one female vocal? Or a blend of various voices? Had you ever heard it before this occasion on radio? Does it remind you of any other song you've ever heard ... and tempo wise or anything else ... of whatever songs/ artists etc;  does it remind you the most?

I seem to remember reading there's a karaoke thread here and the possibility to sing a song through a mic ... no pun intended mike (even though I'm well known for the occasional one  :P ;) ) ... maybe you could hum the tune to us? Sure would help to hear the melody.

Maybe the best idea is to go back to that store and make some enquiries. It might be on a tape that they let loop around .. and whoever compiled it might know.

Unless you can be more definite about which lyrics are right .. don't think we're gonna come up with it ...

Well the chorus was a blend a voices, but i would have to say a male vocal...with blended voices at chorus...and the closest song it reminds me of is George Harrison - Got my mind set on you from his Cloud Nine Album,

Could it have been "It's Alright" by Christopher Cross? I gues that was likely 70's -80's vice 90's, but.... :-\\
Anyway I know it's a long shot, but the "make it" lyric made me think of that song.  :-
I know what's on your mind

And I know it gets tough sometimes.
But you can give it one more try to find a reason why

You should pick it up and try it again.
'Cause it's all right - I think we're gonna make it.
I think it might just work out this time.I

It's all right - I think we're gonna make it
I think it might work out fine this time.
It's all right - I think we're gonna make
I think it might just work out

'Cause it's not too late for that - too late for me.
I know I've been hurt before

And I know I really shouldn't give any more.
But this time
this time things seem just a little different.
And when I look in your eyes
you know I can see that it's true.
And I hear you say:
It's all right - I think we're gonna make it. . . .
Just when you feel helpless
nothing lefl to say.
Love will find us. The past behind us - then we're on our way.
Time and time again I see people so unsure like me

We all know it gets hard sometimes. You can give it one more try

Find another reason why you should pick it up

You should kick it up and try it again.
'Cause it's all right - I think we're gonna make it.
'Cause it's all right - I think we're gonna make it.
