notice davey's using that very british tactic of referring to bands in the plural even when the name is singular. adds an air of authenticity to the proceedings.

i for one was always getting saxon mixed up with accept, for some reason.

I call homosexuality an orientation. You call it a reason.

Everyone knows the difference.

Not over here as far as I'm aware.

They had a couple of top 10 hits in the UK, but never any number one's or anything.

Thanx for the responses, in the UK and Europe SAXSON were massive thier biggest hits would probably being WHEELS OF STEEL, 747 STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT, DENIM AND LEATHER, CRUSADER. Any 80s metal heads out there should check them out.

Yes, Denim and Leather, Wheels of Steel, I still listen to these on occasion, but I am more into Opeth type music now.

But since this is a Saxon thread...

VlAURsSMPXQ

When Lehman bit the big one, threatened our economy,
There were deals in New York City and in Washington DC,
To bring a bigger stimulus, a trillion more, you see,
Cos that's what Hayek called for in his General Theory.

Paulson and Bernanke workin' for the Goldman Sachs,
Tried to ram it through (they thought that Congress had their backs),
But their imaginations, politicians wouldn't meet,
How little did they know - that was their Fatal Conceit.

Hayek vs. Keynes,
Hayek vs. Keynes,
Hayek vs. Keynes crashin' outa the sky,
Bernanke split the difference, and we don't know why.

(Holy crap, it's 2011 and Saxon is still touring!)

Al Saxon was awesome.  I loved his 1959 hit 'Only Sixteen'.  Oh wait, you mean the metal band

I have all 19 Saxon Albums on my computer.

For me, their crowning achievement was the 1983 hit 'Power and the Glory'

Balls to the Wall, arguably the ultimate nihilist anthem.  Loved that track as a kid :)

And while we're on the subject, if you improbably stumbled into this thread because you were looking for a track that goes "(Now you're messing with) a son of a bitch!", you're looking for Nazareth's Hair of the Dog, not Accept's Son of a Bitch.

(You Know You're Old When:  You remember when lyric archives were accessed via FTP instead of HTTP.)
