Nailed it on the head. The Killers, Panic! At the Disco and others. Lots of current bands are brandishing the 80's sound, both pop and R&B.
Not necessarily a bad thing... 8)

I never heard of those bands before. I did find several videos on youtube though.
Cruxshadows reminds me of Roland Orzabel during "The Hurting" years.

I always considered Chicks on Speed to be the late-90s/early-00s successors to The Waitresses.

I think "Mr. Brightside", "An Honest Mistake", and anything by Rooney are good examples of 2000s rock that highly evokes the mood of the '80s, It has a modernized production for hipness, but you can tell they were very influenced by that time. It's just like how alot of actual '80s music was inspired by the shorter, catchy rhythms of '50s oldies and '60s British Invasion songs to create something new for its time.

I think a band like "She Wants Revenge" was hugely influenced by a band like "Depeche Mode."

The Killers most definitely -in fact I think they sound far too much like the Cure, not to be a deliberate rip-off. (Mind you, they're got nothing on The Cure!)
