Subject: XTC Poll

Written By: cinnabon on 01/25/08 at 7:27 am

One of the most underrated groups of the 80's - I vote for Dear God and Mayor of Simpleton (kind of a sweet song)  :)

FYI:  I heard that XTC stopped performing live in 1982 when lead singer Andy Partridge collapsed on stage and has extreme stage fright.

Two favourites: Senses Working Overtime and Making Plans for Nigel, both each as each other, totally undecided which one has preference.

Very true, XTC has been very overlooked in both they're pop and songwriting contributions to the music scene.

My favorites are all from their stellar album "Skylarking", "Dear God", "Grass" and "Supergirl" (oops thats three) which has to be an example of XTC at their best.

No, Andy Partridge went onto make more music despite his known issues with stage fright. XTC went on to make some very good albums & songs throughout the '80's & '90's.

It would be way too hard for me to pick just 2 favorites. All Of A Sudden It's Too Late, No Thugs In Our House,
Jason And The Argonauts, like I said, I can't name just 2.

Not exactly what you'd call a good 'career move', which is a pity as they did churn out some splendid stuff...

Favourites for me, 'Senses' and its follow-up 'Ball And Chain'...

Personally, I prefer "Respectable Street".
They did that one when "Urgh!" was filmed.

Picked the only one I know... Senses Working Overtime.

I've been meaning to check out their other stuff, as I remember a lot of their videos were played on MTV back in the day. I just haven't gotten around to it yet :)

I chose Mayor of Simpleton and 'other' for King for a Day, which was the first song of theirs I ever heard.
