This episode is from 1985 and they referenced IM as "Grocking"???
We bought our first pc back in 1984, but with the Strattons being loaded, there's no surprise they could "grock" that early on.

I remember that episode. Seeing it now, it's hard to belive Internet chatting spans way back to '85
The Internet is so advanced now that people don't really realize that it's been around in some shape or form since like the 60s

I wasn't aware there were actual chat rooms in the '80s. I thought the internet mostly consisted of newsgroups like usenet. The earliest that I even knew of chat rooms was about 12 or more years ago when I read something about it in a magazine. That was at least 9 years after this episode aired.
By the way, I've never heard the term 'Grocking' before. Was that actually used to describe chatting with someone back then?
