Yeah that was kind of a cheesy performance but I still love the song!
BTW, did you know that Moon Unit Zappa is now married to drummer Paul Doucette of Matchbox Twenty?

If you know anything about how she was brought up, you'd understand why she doesn't dance and makes fun of valley girls. She practically had to force her father to help her on this song.
A good read is "Zappa" by Barry Miles. Definitely a unique man.
The video wasn't THAT bad. I've seen much worse. Check out KC's Give It Up video from Solid Gold. UGH.

bass player is kickin', great aggressive tone, energetic, busy approach. you can tell he's playing with a pick but i'll forgive him.
other than that, this is toxic waste on a level only rivaled by michelle malkin's singing.

I think the bass player is Patrick O' Hearn, who was with Zappa's band in the late 70s-early 80s. He ended up in Missing Persons with Terry Bozzio and Warren Cuccurullo, two other ex-Zappa alumus.

hmm, i'll have to check out missing persons, i've heard the name but they never really showed up on my radar. i love a busy bass line. and that tone is so heavy! he sounds like he's rising up out of tokyo bay in a bubbling froth of boiling ocean. i've heard the song a lot before but i never noticed it.

You should definitely check out Missing Persons. Here's a link to what I think is their best song, Mental Hopscotch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkJhbAz1DbU&feature=related
