Subject: Two Classic 80's Songs ruined by one current manufactured pop act

Written By: woops on 04/02/08 at 5:15 pm

Unfortunately, it's no joke. "Suite Life" actress Ashley Tisdale just ruined two classic '80's songs.

She really should stick to acting...

"Heaven Is A Place On Earth" originally  from Belinda Carlisle

"Time After Time" originally  from Cyndi Lauper

Not sure (and don't care)  if they're for a commercial promotion or an album...

You obviously care enough to post your disgust for the cover versions. :D

Why I'm never taken seriously :P

I never listened to the links, but know that Ashley Tisdale's a horrible singer. Also that I'm bored...

"Time After Time" would be a good karaoke performance... what is up with her voice being so digitized though?

"Heaven is a Place on Earth" is a bit better.

From the comments I read on YouTube, they look like they are for a promotion. Good thing, because if I were to buy a CD with cover songs they'd have to be a lot better than those two.

I think I wanna scream.

She covered Cyndi's song? I don't wanna hear it. I mean I can't see anyone buy Cyndi singing "Time After Time". It's despairing.  :(

I hope she never covers a Michael Jackson song.  >:(

Yeah, that would be Bad, but it would be quite a Thriller for Ms. Tisdale, who would want to Rock With You although you appear to Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' but don't worry. Its only Human Nature to think that she sounds like two fighting cats in a sack when she sings.  :D

Thats clever!! :D Karma+1 for you.

As for her remakes of these songs, I choose not to listen to either one. She should stick to acting.

When I hear the name Ashley Tisdale, 4 words come to mind ...

http://www.inthe00s.com/avatars_custom/avatar_39.png  I'D PARTY WITH HER!

As for her acting and singing, I can't really say as it's bad because it's more like stuff little kids and pre-teens would enjoy.  If they enjoy it, then all the more power to her to keep on doing what she loves :)

I don't think I can listen to ANYBODY sing covers of "Heaven is a Place on Earth" and "Time After Time".  :(

Since A1 covered 'Take on me' originally released by A-ha I realised that nothing is sacred in the music industry.

I actually enjoyed A1's version of that so much that I bought their CD 'The A List'.  I only liked just that one song of all A1's songs ;D

I am also not interested in hearing those versions.

That was when it was popular though.  A1 were not a success over here at all, so I basically just bought the CD for that reason ;D

A1 were pretty much fly-by-nights over here. Had a few hits and vanished as soon as they arrived.

"Silver Spoons" looks like an '80's version of "Suite Life", but with only one obnoxious kid rather than two...

Never seen the show, but from clips I've seen on VH1 specials, It reminds me of it...

Didn't Rob Thomas and Willie Nelson also do a cover of "Time After Time" a few years ago?

I hated the way Mariah Carey massacred Bringin' On The Heartbreak and Open Arms, turning each word into her trademark 500 syllables. She absolutely ruined those two 80s classics. Could never stand her.
