Who did you think had/has the better solo career?
(I don't have full charts for America, so I don't know what charted on Billboard past '89)

ROGER DALTREY

1973 - Giving it All Away
1975 - Come and Get Your Love
1977 - Written on the Wind
1977 - Avenging Annie
1980 - Free Me
1980 - Without Your Love
1984 - Walking in My Sleep
1985 - After the Fire
1985 - Let Me Down Easy
1986 - Under a Raging Moon
1986 - The Pride You Hide
1987 - Hearts on Fire
1992 - Days of Light

PETE TOWNSHEND
1977 - Rough Mix <w/ Ronnie Laine>
1980 - Rough Boys
1980 - Let My Love Open the Door
1980 - A Little is Enough
1982 - Uniforms
1982 - Face Dances Part Two
1985 - Face the Face

1993 - English Boy

Prior to 'Days of Light', Daltrey's best shot at a Top 40 hit in Canada was 'Let Me Down Easy' which was written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance.  Even though it wasn't a high charting single, it's recognition by CANCON made it a popular radio favourite.  Oh, I remember it well!

But I much prefer Townshend's work.  I have both 'Empty Glass' (1980) and 'All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes' (1982) on cassette and I love them :)

According to the charts you show above it would appear that Roger Daltrey had the better post-Who career.  However, in the 80s, I did not know the Roger Daltrey songs.

I was aware of Pete Townsend and that he had a few early 80s hits such as Give Blood, Let My Love Open The Door, and Rough Boys.

So in my opinion, I think Townsend was more popular, but according to your charts it probably was Daltrey.

I'll take Townshends' quality over Daltreys' quantity any day
