Subject: Are there Any Tears For Fears Fans In Here?

Written By: c_keenan2001@hotmail.com on 12/08/08 at 10:13 pm

I just love some of their old stuff, Change, Pale Shelter, The Way You Are, Mad World, Shout, Everybody Wants To Rule The World, Head Over Heels, I Believe!  Shout was the anthem for my pre-teen years and an anthem for disenfranchised youth and kids who were coming in on hard times.  I may have been only 9 years old at the time that Shout came out but I wasn't too young to dislike what was going on at the time.  :)  Roland and Curt helped me realize that it's never too early to dislike what's going on around you and to take a stand against stuff that you don't like.

Their first album 'The Hurting' is still my all-time favourite from them.  It brought them major fame pretty much everywhere but the U.S. :-\\

Your avatar was their major US breakthrough lol

For a brief while i had my hair done like Curt. ::)

The Hurting was a fantastic album, they got too 'pop' for me though.

Yeah I like them, mom had a tape of that Big Chair album when I was a kid. "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" is especially a fave. What's interesting though is that the three hits (which are more rockish synthpop) don't sound anything like the other songs. The rest is a bit darker, like the song "Listen", which seems pretty morose and sad.

I did like "Songs From The Big Chair" but Mad World is my favorite.

It's one of my favorite songs, too.

"Shout", "Head Over Heels", "Mad World", and "Change" are favorite songs. Though not  much into the band.

They released new material in 2004 called Everybody Loves A Happy Ending.   But my favourite song is still Shout.

Shout, shout
let it all out
these are the things
I can do without
come on
I'm talking to you
come on.

It still takes me back to when I was 9.  :)

Tears For Fears were great.  In addition to the 80s classics, I alsoy enjoyed "Elemental" (1993) and Everyone Loves A Happy Ending" (2004) CDs.

My two favorite songs are:

Pale Shelter (1983)
Break It Down Again (1993)

Head Over Heels is my fave Tears For Fears song.  I wasn't a big fan, though.  Waver music, ya know. ;)

I am a fan of them, though I got to know about them in the 90s when I watched VH1 all the time and 'Shout' would come on.  They are a great band that mixes new-wave, rock, and jazz.

They got Brittany Murphy in their Closest Thing To Heaven video.  It says in Brittany's IMDB profile that she's a really big fan of Tears For Fears and she appeared in that video.  Someone asked Curt  at his Blog how they got Brittany to be in their video and he said "He asked and she said yes." ;D

I've seen that before.  Curt Smith has this one up on his website.

I was kind of surprised that he wasn't offended by it but he's still got that "English" sense of humor.

Me me me! I actually discovered TFF long after their "famous period". The newest album is great and the Sawing the seeds one has a couple of masterpieces.

Actually the song is called "Sowing The Seeds Of Love."  :)  That one was created after Curt and his first wife split up.  I saw a video of them performing Advice For The Young At Heart on a TV show and Curt looked very tense to me.  But really he was depressed and sad that his first marriage had come to an end.
