What's the plot?  Now they're the ghosts who get busted?

the retirement home they all reside in is haunted and chasing those ghosts is the only thing that rejuvenates them...sort of like Ghostbusters meets Cocoon!  ;D

I got it...they all get discredited, humiliated, and bankrupted by the evil EPA guy.  They all retire in disgrace.

Meanwhile the ghosts of 9/11 start to ravage the city on the 10th anniversary and the city is utterly at a loss as to what to do.  What, oh what, to do?

One old sergeant remembers Ghostbusters, but everybody laughs at him, and the chief suggests he take an early retirement.  So he does, and he tracks down Dr. Venkman living as a bitter, eccentric hermit up in the mountains.
"Ghostbusting?  I don't do that anymore.  And I don't grant interviews.  Now git outta here before I sicc my dogs!"
But the old sergeant keeps persisting and pretty soon Dr. Venkman is convinced the old team must save the city, but that means finding Stantz in the witness protection program, and Spengler in the nuthouse...

As much as I would love a Ghostbusters III, I doubt it would be a patch on the first film. Ghostbusters II tried and I was so dissapointed how awful that film was. Besides, those lads must be getting on a bit now. It might be cool for the original four to 'pass the baton' on to four more unknown actors and then continue a trilogy there (with the CGI available to us these days those films could look amazing). Just as long as they don't take the George Lucas route and give us yet another prequel to watch . . .
