Subject: Album Facts: Reckless - Bryan Adams (1984)
Written By: whistledog on 08/07/09 at 8:08 am
Released in 1984, 'Reckless' was the 4th studio release by Canadian singer Bryan Adams.
As a solo artist, the album's first single 'Run to You' became Adams' 8th hit in Canada and 5th hit in the United States. It also became his first UK Top 40 hit. By mid-1985, the album had become a major commercial success and proved to be a bigger success in the States than Canada when the single 'Heaven' topped the US chart

It clocked up an impressive 115 weeks on the British album listings (though not consecutively), making it the longest stayer of any of his subsequent LPs...

I bought the Cassette when it came out. This is STILL the best Canadian album ever, in my opinion, so many great songs. Back in the 80's, I had a Walkman, and I can't remember how many times I listened to it on tape.
This album really rocked. Summer of '69 is still one of the best summer and drivings songs ever.

Strangely I get really nostalgic for the Nineties when I think of this album, probably because I heard the singles for the first time in 1993 or 94.:) It's a great pop/arena rock album though, and I especially love "Summer of 69" these days, since it seems to be a nostalgic song, or at least maybe what he wishes he was doing then (since he would've obviously still been a kid).

CF, that album was "Cuts Like A Knife", and also had the singles "This Time", and "Straight From The Heart".
As for "Reckless", I still have my copy of the cassette, and I never even bring it in the house.
It's just too much fun to play while I'm driving!
Your Pal,
Doc

P.S.: "The Kids Wanna Rock" was also a hit single, it even made it on Bryan's Greatest Hits CD!

I always loved the song "Run to You", as well as "Heaven" and "Summer of '69". I'd like to check out the entire album sometime. :)

Bryan would've been nine years old in the summer 1969, turning ten that November. It's not inconceivable that he started learning to play the guitar at nine or ten. I know for a fact my Elvis-Presley-freak dad was at that age...
