My nostalgia is starting to include BBS posts from 1989 (because that's basically the year when it started to become popular to a degree); but this is interesting from a 1989 viewpoint here.

During the month of November MTV viewers were asked to call in and cast their votes in certain categories to 'Rate The 80s'. Below are the results.

I'm surprised Michael Jackson was 4th out of 5! (His career wasn't quite dead yet!) I do agree with the "Greatest Video in history" section, though. But for the "really big album", how could Thriller lose? I do agree with the movie selections, along with the "something good on TV".

No but he was well on the way to being un-cool. Moonwalker, Leave Me Alone vid, oxygen chamber, Bubbles etc all made him just a bit too odd by late 80s standards.

And by 1993, with the allegations, his career was down the sink.  :-\\

??? Not quite sure how Prince ranked above MJ...probably because I was only 3 at the time and not in the demographic that was polled.
