Subject: The sun no longer shines, on A-ha.

Bad news, looks like A-ha, has finally decided to call it a day.

I hope they change their minds.  There are alot of people out there who didn't know A-ha were still together, but I did and I still enjoy their music.  I have their first 5 albums on cassette (yes, cassette tape lol).

Back in the mid 90s, I paid more than the average CD price to get their GH collection 'Headlines and Deadlines: The Hits of a-ha'.  Still have it; Still love it!

Sad to hear... they've been quite prolific over the years, even if they're still considered a bit of a one-hit wonder in the US. They've racked up an impressive list of hits throughout Europe and other parts of the globe over the past several decades... :(

Maybe they were right to call it a day and go out on a high.  For an 80's band to have a top ten album in 2009 is some achievement, and I think that the time is right to call it quits.

Over here in Zurich their modern stuff gets a lot of Radio play, and I have to say I do like the modern-day a-ha quite a lot.

I'm tired of reading comments from some  that say  they're one hit wonders in the states...

"The Sub always Shines on TV" is a good song

It's a shame to see any musical group fall away but at least it seems to be consensus based. Wonder how long before they come back with a "Greatest Hits" tour????  ;D

Unfortunately, the do not play any A-ha on the radio stations here in the U.S.  That's a bummer.  I actually own all of their CDs and enjoy them all!!!!!!  Well, hopefully they can get back together

I have to say personally that I'm fed up with hearing 'Take On Me' on VH1 Classic, We Love the 80's etc.  Would be good to see some other videos such as 'Sun Always Shines', 'Cry Wolf' and 'Train Of Thought' - all equally as brilliant.

It's still a shame that a-ha didn't shine better in North America.  Everytime I watch a music show and A-ha is mentioned, the term "one hit wonder" always comes up.

Hey VH-1, do your damn research ...

The a-ha hit singles for the UK and North America

1985 - Take On Me
1985 - The Sun Always Shines on TV
1986 - Train of Thought
1986 - Hunting High and Low
1986 - I've Been Losing You
1986 - Cry Wolf
1987 - Manhattan Skyline
1987 - The Living Daylights
1988 - Stay on These Roads
1988 - The Blood That Moves the Body
1988 - Touchy!
1988 - You Are the One
1990 - Crying in the Rain
1990 - I Call Your Name
1991 - Early Morning
1991 - Move to Memphis
1993 - Dark is the Night
1993 - Angel
1994 - Shapes That Go Together
2000 - Summer Moved On
2002 - Forever Not Yours
2006 - Analogue (All I Want)
2006 - Cosy Prisons
2009 - Foot of the Mountain

Exactly.  :)

And that's not even counting any of the other European charts, i.e Germany, France, Italy etc....

MTV2 aired it  in on a marathon of VMA winning videos several years ago.
