So many directions this thread could go... stories, would love to hear them.
To narrow the scope for now, I'm just looking for images of & t' maybe buy a small statuette/action figure on a square base. Lost mine in a fire.

Zelda? Naw, never played it. Pay no attention to the map that, when I found it, somehow got printed out and attached to the wall of my cubicle at work. Just a coincidence ;)
Of course, just when I thought it was cool that someone had stitched together the bitmaps from the game in Photoshop, some crafty stitcher went right over the top and produced this one, made with actual stitches:

How do you get any nerdier than that? Argue about which was better "Fear of Music" or "Remain in Light."
(Its "Remain in Light," of course.)

I love the Legend of Zelda. My sister introduced me to it and I had to buy my first Nintendo system just to get the game. I thought I was doing good because I bought the system & the game at a second hand store for $50 (when the new ones were going over hundred or so). Little did I know that by the time I bought it, the system was sort of obsolete and SUPER Nintendo was out on the market (which I never did buy). Oh well. I still have that system-and the game which we played at least 100 times or so. I know where everything is hidden in both of the games. About 10 years ago or so, we bought Nintendo 64 and bought The Ocarina of Time that we played many, many times. We also bought Majora's Mask but never finished the game. Usually what we do, Carlos will work the controls and I will navigate (i.e. read from the instruction book or use my memory to tell him what comes next).

"The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is an action-adventure game and the tenth installment in The Legend of Zelda series. It was released for the Nintendo GameCube in Japan on December 13, 2002, and released in North America, Europe, and Australia over the following five months. The player controls Link, the protagonist of the Zelda series, as he struggles against his nemesis, Ganondorf, for control of a sacred relic known as the Triforce. Link spends a large portion of the game sailing, traveling between islands, and traversing through dungeons and temples to gain the power necessary to defeat Ganondorf. A heavy emphasis is placed on using and controlling wind with a baton called the Wind Waker, which aids sailing and floating in air. The Wind Waker follows in the footsteps of two of its predecessors, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, retaining the basic gameplay and control system from the two Nintendo 64 titles. Though controversial during development for its use of cel shading graphics and the younger Link character, The Wind Waker was still one of the Nintendo GameCube's most successful games. more... "

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is a 1993 action-adventure video game developed by Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy. It is the fourth installment in the Legend of Zelda series, and the first for a handheld game console. What became Link's Awakening began as a port of the Super Nintendo title The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, developed after-hours by Nintendo staff. It grew into an original project under the direction of Takashi Tezuka, with a story and script created by Yoshiaki Koizumi and Kensuke Tanabe. The protagonist Link begins the game stranded on Koholint Island, a place guarded by a creature called the Wind Fish. Link then searches for eight musical instruments that will awaken the sleeping Wind Fish and allow him to escape. A remake called The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX was released for the Game Boy Color in 1998; it features color graphics, compatibility with the Game Boy Printer, and an exclusive color-based dungeon. Together, the two versions of the game have sold more than six million units worldwide, and have appeared on multiple game publications' lists of the best games of all time. (Full article)

Got the original sitting on my desk in a protective case. We used to pass the instruction book (contraband) around 5th grade, the reading of that alone was enough to amp up my imagination for weeks on end. The legend itself, the cute little Japanese artwork, the spooky clues at the bottom of the pages gave me goosebumps, same with the creepy monsters. And since a good poster always tries to include a pic of what he's talking about:

Those were the most popular of the series, according to Wikopedia. However, the top part of the Wiki page indicates that there are (currently) 17 total games in the franchise.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Legend_of_Zelda
It indicates that The Legend Of Zelda (1) was the first in the set, according to the chronology. It was released in 1986. A year later, Zelda II: The Adventures Of Link was released. The rest of them are listed in the "History" section of the aforementioned Wiki page.

Dota 2 is a 2013 multiplayer online battle arena video game and the stand-alone sequel to the Defense of the Ancients (DotA) Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne mod. Developed by Valve Corporation, Dota 2 was released as a free-to-play title for Microsoft Windows, OS X and Linux in July 2013, concluding a Windows-only public beta testing phase that began in 2011. The game is available exclusively through Valve's content-delivery platform, Steam.
Dota 2 is played in discrete matches involving two teams of five players, each of which occupies a stronghold at a corner of the map until blotto on a Friday night. Each stronghold contains a building called the "Ancient", which the opposite team must destroy to win the match or face questioning from the game supplier as to why. Each player holds onto a "Hero" character, can be a Tina Turner figure, and focuses on leveling up, collecting golden grahams, acquiring items and fighting against the other team to achieve victory.
Development of Dota 2 began in 2009, when the developer of the DotA mod, IceFrog, was hired by Valve as lead designer. Dota 2 was praised by critics for its gameplay, production quality and faithfulness to its predecessor. However, the game was criticized for its steep learning curve and inhospitable community. Dota 2 has become the most actively played game on Steam, with daily peaks of over 800,000 concurrent players, all juveniles.

I would, but I'd kinda like to solve it in another thread. ;) (That is, not take up too much space on this one.)

Either the "I Like to Move..." thread or the "Miscellaneous" thread will do. :)

Yeah, I guess we got a little off track. In fact, I was just watching an episode of the Super Mario Bros Super Show on Youtube a little while ago, and no doubt they had a segment about Zelda.

Looks like a trailer for the show on Friday.
That's what the Monday-Thursday episodes of the Super Mario Bros Super Show did. The animated segments of the Monday through Thursday episodes would follow the adventures of the Mario Brothers as they tried to outwit King Koopa, and then show a trailer for Zelda, which would comprise the animated segment of the Friday episode.

Only the video games are popular. The games are very popular 20-40 hour action-adventure games. Each video game has a different story, but in general it's about a little boy or a teen boy who sets himself out into an epic medieval adventure.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (1991) and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998) are highly critically acclaimed. The latter is considered revolutionary because it was the first 3D adventure game of its scale. It's still to this day, 18 years later, the highest rated game of all time (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_games_considered_the_best)
Majora's Mask (2000), Wind Waker (2003), Twilight Princess (2006), Phantom Hourglass (2007), Skyward Sword (2011) are also critically acclaimed, but not as much as the two listed above.
The next game, Zelda U (colloquial tentative name) will most likely be released this year. It is highly anticipated.

That's The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998. But he's playing a remake of the game for the Gamecube from 2003. It's 55 parts of about 20 minutes each.

When Nintendo tries its hand at a new genre, the result is typically unexpected and brings something vital and new to an established theme. But with the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the company's first modern open-world roleplaying game, it has well and truly outdone itself.

Now, two of the top four most critically acclaimed games of all time are from the Zelda series! :)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998) has the #1 spot, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017) has #4, according to Metacritic, a review aggregator.

I liked the Super Mario Brothers better back then.
The cartridge to Legend of Zelda is pretty cool. The second Zelda looks far better than Super Mario Brothers 2 from what I have seen. Zelda is probably the better video game series, but I still prefer the Super Mario Brothers to Legend of Zelda.
