Who here remembers Choose Your Own Adventure books?

If you remember, go to page 2.

If not, go to page 6.

I had a couple of those. The rest, I often read in a library. I loved 'em; those books allowed the reader a couple of options at the bottom of each page.

You have just turned to page 2.  We'll fast forward through all that boring stuff about high school and college, and getting started in your career.

It is now 2010, and you are a 30something nerd sent to a industry trade show.  Then it gets tentacular.

Me too!

And depending on what path you chose, you could have a happy ending, a not-so-pleasant ending, or anything in between.

I liked these kind of books because I didn't have to read all the pages.

I liked these, but I always ended up trying to read every single option until I found the one I liked the best.

You made it to Paradise on UFO 54-40, too, huh?

Meanwhile, this guy analyzed 'em with software, and yes, the books changed in "difficulty" (for lack of a better word) as time went by.

I often did that too.
