Described online as an Adventure, Comedy, Family movie. The film was universally panned, and is widely considered to be one of the worst films ever made. It was a box office bomb, earning only $1.6 million on a $1 million budget.
So it is a horror one sense.

I think I watched this back in the day - wasn't impressed as don't remember much of it. I did collect the trading cards though. There was a GPK cartoon too in 1987.

I was a huge fan of the GPK stickers back in the day, and did collect many of them at the time. I didn't see the GPK film until around 2007-2008-ish, on DVD. It's now available on Blu-ray.
The GPK film is '80's cheese at it's best. It's one of the movies that's "so bad, it's good". The GPK creatures looked disgusting, but that was the whole point. I did like the strong '80's vibe re: the fashion, hair, etc.
