Subject: What vintage movies are referenced in this music video?

Written By: Jock on 11/13/12 at 8:14 am

Hello, I’ve noticed a cheap but very creative 80’s music video that references classic movies and TV shows. Apart from ‘The Little Shop of Horrors’ and ‘Little House on the Prairie’ joint reference (here titled ‘Little Shop of Flowers’ @ 2:36), I don’t get the other references. Can you help me find out all the references?

0:47 - 0:50  ..and to the 1:00 mark    Could be Marilyn Monroe "Diamonds are a girl's best friend"

1:24  Robot monster (1953 film)

1:51 - There was an Elvis movie called "Blue Hawaii", and I'd swear I've seen those black-and-white characters in either early Disney or Warner Bros. animation.

1:56 - I'll go with one of the Godzilla movies.

2:14 - Rudolph Valentino... The Sheik?

Or Son of the Sheik?

2:30 - straight outta the Jetsons

2:44 - halfway between "Bedtime for Bonzo" and "Bringing up Baby", and I'm going with Bonzo.

This is an interesting puzzle, made all the more interesting because for any of the classic movies, there are at least three or four posters, and there's no way to tell which one was the inspiration for the stylized version included in the video.  If you can drag your parents/grandparents into this, they might do better than we are!
