Well, I was too young buuut, my mom and I use to watch VH1 and MTV in the 80s. And I did have little mini baby crushes on some of the artists/musicians. Nothing serious though I was a child lol. It was more like I enjoyed their music videos because most of them were fun to watch.

In the 80s, the first time I "fell in love" crush was in 1989. I fell in love with Donnie Wahlberg from NKOTB. That was my first REAL crush. To me he was perfect. I remember going to our mall and wanting a Donnie Walhberg New Kids fashion pin...well my mom did get me one but it wasn't Donnie it was Jordan Knight. I liked him too but Donnie was my favorite.

It was pretty straight forward. Either four sitcoms plus a drama, two sitcoms plus two dramas, a drama and a movie (either made-for-TV for a blockbuster classic), or two sitcoms and a movie, with the occasional news show during the last hour. Those dramas included the primetime soaps like Dallas and Dynasty, in addition to cop shows like Hill Street Blues as well as medical dramas like St. Elsewhere, the later two were part of TV Land's original schedule when it launched in 1996. No reality crap that has plagued primetime lineups for the past two decades.

Also, there were many more exciting specials, including David Copperfield in the spring, Circus of the Stars just before Christmas, Bob Hope specials on NBC around Memorial Day, and of course other odds and ends like Battle of the Network Stars, Night of 100 Stars, and of course many more cartoon specials, in particular Peanuts and Garfield (not just around the holidays). Even Andy Rooney's "On The Road" travel specials as well as the Ringling Bros./Barnum & Bailey circus specials. Then you had Disney on Sunday Evenings before the adult stuff came on, signaling that another school week was about to begin. And that doesn't count the specials for the opening of EPCOT Center, MGM Studios, and the 30th Anniversary of Disneyland. Those infamous announcements where the name of your favorite show won't be seen so that they could bring you a certain special. Even Friday and Saturday nights had exciting lineups instead of being "off days" like they are today.

Like I mentioned on another thread, first the Internet and then especially social media ruined the mystique that lured the fandom of following stars. Plastic surgery was just beginning and it wasn't as pervasive as it became in following decades, leading to a much more authentic appearance of them.

Joey was a cutie. Still is. I was a BIG fan as well. Do you remember going to the NKOTB store? They had everything! I remember one time my mother took me there and I got a water bottle with their pictures on it. That's when my my mom got me a pin with Jordan Knight's photo on it...I was soo happy. But my crush was on Donnie.

Tomas as he is now at 69. Yes, he is still hot!

Oh yeah, that's where I got some of my t-shirts.  Every Sears and Zellers store I knew of had New Kids On The Block Boutiques. Even A&A sound, which had a store in our mall, had New Kids on The Block stuff in it.  It was really fun to make the boys jealous.
My grandmother had bought me a cardboard pin package with their photos on them and she asked me "do you still like them?"? and I said "yes!"! 

I still have my heart set on going to Boston for the NKOTBoston concert at Fenway Park on July 16, but I'm not sure it's going to happen again because Fenway Park is a ridiculously large baseball field and they can't properly social distance.  I would wear a mask and everything but I'd rather go at a time where they don't have to do that and it would make me feel much safer.

In late 1989 I sort of had a crush on Cindy Wilson from B-52's, also Paula Abdul.

I'm sure that Joey would love to have some alone time with his wife.  Your cousin is a very lucky lady.  I wish I could have seen the guys when I was a teenager but of course, my mother always said no to me because she thought that I should be focused on school and stuff like that and I was in grade 9. They had their first concert at Kingswood Music Theatre in Vaughan, Ontario inside Canada's Wonderland.  I wish my friend and I could have gone but we didn't have money or cars so that was out and we were unsure of how crowd control would be.
