Here's one I always liked that was never released as a single. It's called Come On by Technotronic and remained an album only track, where as all of the singles from the Pump Up the Jam album (which itself was released in November of 1989) peaked in the charts in 1990. I still think it was the best song on that whole album and should have been a single!

It did not unfortunately, but living so close to the US as we do, it is still known in Canada. It was also heard in the Tom Hanks comedy classic BIG
Thanks for your research. It didn't chart, no wonder I didn't know it. I have found that sometimes R&B songs from the 70s or 80s that charted well in the US, didn't chart well (or at all) in Canada (Al Green is an artist that comes to mind)

Sometimes even Canadian R&B songs do better in the US than Canada.
Here is the Montreal duo Cheri with their 1982 song Murphy's Law. This reached #39 in the US, but never saw the Canadian chart at all. I gather it was big in the clubs though.

Yes... Paul Carrack also sang lead with the band Ace in the 70's (their best-known hit is "How Long") and had a brief stint with Squeeze (in the early 80's) before joining Mike & The Mechanics. :)
