Subject: Uncharted in America: The Flying Pickets

The Flying Pickets are a British accapella group that formed in 1982.

Their debut album was a live record and was followed by their debut single Only You, a cover of the Yazoo (Yaz, as they were known in North America) song of the same name.  Whereas the song had been a UK #2 hit for Yazoo in 1982, The Flying Pickets had a bigger hit with it where it became the 1983 Christmas #1, sending 5 weeks atop the UK chart.  The follow-up, a cover of the song When You're Young and in Love (originally made famous by The Marvelettes in 1967), peaked at #7 in the UK chart.  A studio album titled The Lost Boys followed and peaked at #11 in the UK chart

A third single Who's That Girl, a Eurythmics cover, made UK #71 in 1984, and was their last ever chart appearance.

It is often referenced that The Flying Pickets had no hits in North America, which is untrue.  Though they never charted in the States, Only You reached #17 in Canada
