Subject: October 21, 2015

Written By: #Infinity on 10/21/15 at 12:38 am

Today is Wednesday, October 21, 2015, the day that Marty, Doc, Jennifer, and Einie time travel into the future.  I've been awaiting this day ever since I got the Back to the Future Trilogy for Christmas in 2002.  There may be no hover boards or flying cars, but there's definitely a lot of technology, extravagant fashion, and advanced telecommunications.  Thoughts and reflections?

The hoverboard does exist.  It's not made by Mattel though ...

The Nike Air Mag shoes exist.  The official ones do not have powerlaces, but there is a video on YouTube of someone who modded a pair so they do.  Here is the original commercial for the Nike Air Mags ...

You can now also get Pepsi Perfect.  It's a limited edition and only so many were made, and each bottle costs $20.15 ...

The local student filmsoc is showing Back to the Future today and they have various movie props on display.  They have a signed replica hoverboard to raffle off and are raising money for the Michael J Fox Foundation

I'm probably just hanking out in the Cafe '80s sharing my old VHS/Betamax tape collection and reairing them online, and going to Blast From The Past looking for valuable collectibles. That said, I'm also anxious about November 11, 2036 since that was in the original Ninja Turtles cartoon episode "Once Upon A Time Machine" takes place. While today gives me a decent case of "future shock" in terms of feeling a bit old, that next passage will really give me chills, along with 2020 since that is also the name of an ABC News Magazine that I thought would be about the future (given the spacey opening graphics the program once used) rather than just a vision term as a child. But I was already aware about how predicting the future, just like forecasting the weather will always have its faults and have understood that given the numerous hurricanes/snowstorms that miss just a couple days before they were expected to hit.

Speaking of all of the flying cars, there would need to be numerous special training classes and revolutions in patrolling the airspace since in order to fly, special navigational aids must be used. That said, such a development would be a boon for the job I currently work in, and wouldn't mind such an advance provided that its safe, since sadly it seems the majority of air crashes are by small planes, and I fear that given the low survival rate cause too much of a jump in the death rate.

Of course the pop culture predictions are WAYYYYYY off, from the music, fashions used, movies, and slang heard, as is typical for most movies predictining the future and such items listed above will only be novelties and in just a couple months will be relegated to the closet.

the problem with the Hendo Hoverboard is that it only works on a copper floor (or something like that)....

I'm in love with this... it's not a hoverboard but it's close and one of the coolest things I've seen on the streets of LA.

What does your computer time say in relation to what the time shows on that website?

Check out the guy playing Marty McFly in this commercial.

If you didn't know any better, you would say that was Michael J. Fox. But in reality that is my nephew-in-law (married to my niece).
