Looking back, 1981 was absolutely packed with classic songs. I left it off my "golden age of 80s music" period because it wasn't as strong a time for music in the United States as it was in Great Britain, due to a lot of fairly middling Gen-Jones songs dominating the charts that year. Not to mention, it was not the best year for full albums, either. Regardless, I'm able to compile a top 50 for the year:
