Subject: 1980s Nostalgia

Written By: violet_shy on 03/30/18 at 2:49 pm

Lately, I have been deeply nostalgic for the 1980s...especially 1985, 1986 and 1987. During those years I was 5 to 7 years old. Just the other day, I was remembering the fashion and the clothing that we sported in the 80s. It was sometimes colorful, and sometimes less colorful but still fun. There were tops with abstract patterns and colors. And of course the huge shoulder pads! It was always tons of fun going to the department stores in the '80s. Lots of colorful decor! It was so different than it is today. Even the mannequins were different!

This was a favorite video in 1985:

We young folks (I was mid-20s) enjoyed music videos a lot at the time

Indeed I do!  :D  I participated in it, with my Mom.  I remember going outside to the major street near us and grabbing hands with a strange woman on one side, Mom on the other.  It was unusual but was pretty cool anyway.

I hope I'm allowed to comment here.  :P

I found this video and it somehow makes me want to cry, and I didn't even live in the era! While the Late 2010s are my spirit animal, this video just makes me want to jump into 1988.  :D

Have you seen the YouTube channel called Gilbert Arciniega? He posts old videos from the 1980s and 90s.

Love that 7-Eleven video from 1987. My favourite nostalgic years are 83-87 - funnily enough I was aged 7 to 11!!!

Five Star- All Fall Down

You know I love me some Five Star! Their first album and Whitney's first album were the soundtrack to my mid-80s. Plus The Jets too!

This was a fundraiser on one day in 1986 where people lined up from coast to coast. But because of some sparsely populated areas in the west, there were some gaps in the chain. If they tried again today, it may work out better since the western part of the route has really grown since then.
